English Vowels Series for Phonic Phase 3 and 5

This series of books is a revised version of the original More Vowels Series, first published in 2000. After the introduction of Letters and Sounds in 2007, the stories were rewritten to make them shorter and the vocabulary easier. 

Some of the books introduce vowel digraphs for Phonic Phase 3. These digraphs are 'ow (cow), ou (out), ar (farm), oo (good), er (silver), or (morning), ur (turkey), oi (noise)'. These books, however, are too difficult for children learning these digraphs in the Reception Year.

The rest of the books introduce the Phonic Phase 5 vowel digraphs 'ir (girl), aw, (saw), oy (boy), ear (year), air (hair), are (scarecrow), ea (head)'. The books are intended for children to read late in Year 1 or Year 2. They are also ideal material for older children who have missed out on phonic teaching earlier in their school days.
